So there are two fulfilments to the 'thing seen' in each word symbolic thread.

Multiple Designations:
Ram, [the] owner of 2 horns. So there are 2 word symbolic kingdoms described by these designations. These are the kingdom of all Israel (North and South), and Christendom (Catholic and Protestants).

Prophetic forms: Me, even me, Daniel, and: I, myself, Daniel. These mean there are 3 Daniels in all.

Noun count in the vision unless otherwise stated:

The Hebrew word 'faces' has the meaning of 'face' or 'attention'. 'To stand before' or 'to stand against' is 'to stand to faces of'.

1 In the 3rd year of the kingship of Belshazzar [WSS1 - 70Nisan-71Nisan], there was a vision [The first word symbolic thread of Daniel 8] that appeared to me, even me, Daniel [Paul], after the one appearing to me at the start [on the road to Damascus]. 
2 And I began to see in the vision, and it came about, while I was seeing, that... I was in-Shushan, the castle, which is in-Elam, the jurisdictional district; and I proceeded to see in the vision, and I myself happened to be by [the] watercourse of Ulai [Those water baptised into FDS2].
3 When I raised my eyes, then I saw, and, look! a ram [The Kingdom of all Israel], and it had 2 horns [The Northern and Southern Kingdoms]. And the 2 horns were tall, but the one was taller than the other, and the taller was the one that came up afterward [The Northern Kingdom was larger and came later].
4 I saw the ram [from King David to Judas Maccabeus] making thrusts to the sea/west [The Philistines] and to the north and to the south [From the Nile to the Euphrates to Tyre and Sidon], and no wild beasts [other kingdoms] kept standing before it [for long], and there was no one doing any delivering out of its hand. And it did according to its will, and it put on great airs.
5 And I, for my part, kept on considering, and, look! there was a he-goat of the goats [A true Christian Church] coming from the sunset [The Kingdom of God] upon the surface of the whole earth [to the attention of the whole administration of Israel], and it was not touching the ground [the administration of Israel]. And as regards the he-goat [The whole true Christian Church], there was a conspicuous horn between its eyes [Jesus, the power and vision of the church].
6 And it kept coming all the way to the ram [The Kingdom of all Israel], which I had seen standing before the watercourse [Those water baptised by John] and it came running toward it in its powerful rage.
7 And I saw it coming into close touch with the ram, and it began showing bitterness toward it, and it proceeded to strike down the ram and to break its 2 of horns [The religious administrations of Judah and Samaria], and there proved to be no power in the ram to stand before it. So it threw it to the ground and trampled it down, and the ram proved to have no deliverer out of its hand.
8 And [the] he-goat of the goats [The first true Christian church], for its part, put on great airs to an extreme; but as soon as it became mighty, the horn, was broken [Jesus was murdered], and there proceeded to come up conspicuously 4 instead of it [FDS1, FDS2, FDS3, FDS4] toward the 4 of winds of the heavens [the 4 spirit baptisms into the 1NC, the HHC, the 2NC and the EHC].
9 And out of one of them there came forth another horn, a small one [WSS1 out of FDS1], and it kept getting very much greater toward the south [the Egyptians] and toward the sunrising [The Babylonians and other easterners] and toward the Decoration [the sons of Israel].
10 And it kept getting greater all the way to the army of the heavens [The sons of the JAC], so that it caused some of the army [the sons of the 2AC] and some of the stars [the sons of the 1NC] to fall to the earth [fall from heavenly administration to physical earthly administration - lose faith], and it went trampling them down [repressing them].
11 And all the way to the Prince of the army [Jesus] it put on great airs, and from him the constant [feature] [sufficient true Christians so that some are always in true worship] was taken away [all of TCC1 disfellowshipped], and the established place of his sanctuary was thrown down [not a living stone left upon a living stone].
12 And an army itself was given over, together with the constant [feature], due to transgression [Idolatary of Romans or  Roman Gods], and it kept throwing truth to the ground [hiding truth in its administration], and it acted and had success.
13 And I got to hear a certain holy one speaking, and another holy one proceeded to say to the particular one who was speaking [There are going to be two fulfilments of this, one for each holy one]: How long will the vision be [of] the constant [feature] and [of] the transgression [both used as adjectives] causing desolation, to make both [the] holy place and [the] army things to trample on? [How long will it be from the transgression causing desolation to the restoration?]
14 So he said to me: Until evening [and] morning 2300, and [the] holy place will certainly be brought into its right condition/restored...
15 Then it came about that, while I myself, Daniel [Paul], was seeing the vision (Nwzx) [The first word symbolic thread] and seeking an understanding, why, look!... there was standing in front of me someone in appearance like an able-bodied man.
16 And I began to hear the voice of an earthling man in the midst of the Ulai, and he proceeded to call out and say: Gabriel, make that one there understand the thing seen (hr)m) [The first word symbolic meaning].
17 So he came beside where I was standing, but when he came I got terrified so that I fell upon my face [turned his attention away from bible research out of fear of its glory]. And he proceeded to say to me: Understand, Oh son of man [Paul was a submediator of the JAC], that the vision is for the time of [the] end [of the Jewish system of things - the ram].
18 And while he was speaking with me, I had become fast asleep on my face on the ground [Paul fell asleep spiritually for a while, turning his attention to physical things, and Gabriel had to wake him up]. So he touched me and made me stand up where I had been standing.
19 And he went on to say: Here I am causing you to know what will occur in the final part of the denunciation, because it is for the appointed time of [the] end [of TCC1].
20 The ram that you saw, [stands for] [the] kings of Media and Persia [The religious administrations of Judah and Israel].
21 And the he-goat, [stands for] [the] king of Greece [The Christian church], and the horn, that was between its eyes, it [stands for] the king [Jesus, the head of the Christian church].
22 And that one having been broken [murdered], so that there were 4 that stood up instead of it, there are 4 of kingdoms from [his] nation that will stand up, but not with his power [FDS1, FDS2, FDS3, FDS4].
23 And in the final part of their kingdom [plural kings, singular kingdom, so it is the kingdom of the kings of Media and Persia, which are the religious administrations of Judah and Israel], as the transgressors act to a completion, there will stand up a king [WSS1] fierce in countenance and understanding ambiguous sayings.
24 And his power must become mighty, but not by his own power. And in an astonishing way he will cause ruin, and he will certainly prove successful and do effectively. And he will actually bring mighty ones to ruin, also the people made up of [the] holy ones [TCC1].
25 And according to his insight he will also certainly cause deception to succeed in his hand. And in his heart he will put on great airs, and during a freedom from care he will bring many to ruin. And against the Prince of princes [Peter] he will stand up, but it will be without hand that he will be broken [the holy spirit will break him].
26 And the thing seen (hr)m) of the evening and the morning [The meaning of the 2300 evening and mornings], which has been said, it is true. And you, for your part, keep secret the vision, because [ it is] about many days...
27 And as for me, Daniel, I felt exhausted and was made sick for [some] days. Then I got up and did the work of Belshazzar. But I kept showing myself numbed on account of the thing seen (hr)m), and there was nobody understanding [it] (Daniel 8).

What did the Romans ever do for us? They exonerated Jesus Christ! There is no abomination causing desolation in the evening fulfilment (the first one in the presence). The Abomination causing desolation of Daniel 12 was to the temple of FDS1, by the Roman state. FDS1 had the constant feature all through the vision period.

Jesus has the constant feature removed from him. Jesus has authority over the saints. So there is a period when all the saints are in a false religion and therefore unable to worship him. So GNS1 became a false religion before Peter and other 1NC saints joined FDS2 restarting the constant feature. Although it is possible that Paul had enough sons of Bilhah, sons of the EHC in FDS2 to make a constant feature before the 1NC saints came in. Also the transgression causing desolation to FDS1 must happen whilst it still has authority over the saints, i.e. before 69Nisan1.

61 This man said: I am able to throw down the temple of God and build it up in three days.
62 With that the high priest stood up and said to him: Have you no answer? What is it these are testifying against you? (Matthew 26).

Jesus throws down the temple of GNS1 and builds up the temple of FDS2 in three days. These days really are the day of WSS1, the day of GNS1 and the day of FDS2 being in the right condition. But just as in the case of his resurrection, it is possible that the new temple might be restored fully on the third literal day after the temple of GNS1 is knocked down??.

Second Word Symbolism

Substitute 'ram' with 'one standing before the watercourse'. Substitute nouns acting as nouns only.

And as regards the hairy [one] [covered in the 'great crowd'], there was a conspicuous horn between its eyes [Russell].
6 And it kept coming all the way to [the] owner of the 2 horns, which I had seen standing before the watercourse [FDS4 which now had the water baptism into the 2AC], and it came running toward it in its powerful rage.

9 And out of one of them there came forth another horn, a small one [True head of GNS2], and it kept getting very much greater toward the negeb/south [Those who had lost their water baptism - the ex sons of the 3EC in TCC3] and toward the sunrising [Eastern Europe] and toward the Decoration [over the remnant of the 1NC].

But the time of the end really runs from 2008Nisan14 to 2009Sivan15]
18 And while he was speaking with me, I had become fast asleep on my face on the ground. So he touched me and made me stand up where I had been standing.
19 And he went on to say: Here I am causing you to know what will occur in the final part of the denunciation, because it is for the appointed time of [the] end [This is the 'time of distress' of Daniel 12 we think. 2008Sivan15 to 2009Sivan15.]

Then I got up and did the work of the king [Jesus - Daniel works for God - rather than commercial software design!]. But I kept showing myself numbed on account of the thing seen, and there was nobody understanding [it] (Daniel 8).

The evening and morning fulfilments are measured in days say Gabriel in verse 26. This is ambiguous deliberately. In the second word symbolic thread, an evening stands for a day and a morning stands for a day, so 2300 evening and mornings is 4600 solar days.

In the Columbus Ohio convention from July24-30 1931, the Watchtower bible students took the name Jehovah's witnesses (in fact on July 26^th). This convention was actually the time that the 2300 evenings and mornings of Daniel 8 were fulfilled in the first fulfillment of the second presence. If we count back 4600 solar days from the first day of the convention i.e. July 24th 1931 we end up on December 19th 1918.

Now on December 12th 1918 the Federal council of churches of Christ in America excelled themselves in idolatry by passing the following resolution:

... The time has come to organize the world for truth and right, justice and humanity. To this end, as Christians, we urge the establishment of a League of Free Nations at the coming Peace Conference (which was in Versailles -ed). Such a League is not a mere political expedient. It is rather the political expression of the Kingdom of God on earth... The Church has much to give and much to gain. It can give powerful sanction by imparting to the new international order something of the prophetic glory of the Kingdom of God. What is the Kingdom of God, if it not be the triumph of God's will in affairs of men, "righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit"? And what is this vision of a world federation of humanity organized on the basis of justice and fair dealing, for the effective and impartial maintenance of peace, if it be not of the Kingdom of God?

The Federal council of churches also passed a resolution to appoint a Special Commission to represent them and to take the resolution to the Peace Conference. The resolution was sent to President Wilson in a letter dated December 18th 1918.

So here was the harlotry of Babylon with the League, the church was jumping on the beast before it came into existence. Counting 4600 days after the date of this letter we end up on the day before the convention where JHWH gave his name to the Watchtower bible students, showing that the holy place was now in the right condition. In other words the 4600 days count exclusively.

4600 Solar days rather than lunar days, because the 2300 evenings and mornings are a vision of the constant feature, and this was a genuine daily feature, not a prophetic Hebrew calendar feature. And 4600 rather than 2300 because the constant feature occurred two times in a day, or putting in another way in 2300 evenings and mornings there were 4600 constant feature sacrifices. So the constant feature occurred 4600 times in this period, so then take a day for a constant feature and we get 4600 days. 

14 Until 2300 evenings and mornings and the holy place will certainly be brought into the right condition (Daniel8).

And the holy place is earthly Jerusalem, the administrative centre, the FDS3. It came into the right condition at the time of the Columbus Ohio convention, not by announcement in the Watchtower magazine on October 15, 1932 (YW p216) as is currently proposed in the Daniel book (Your will be done on earth - JW publication), a date arrived at by counting 2300 literal days from the convention at the famous Albert Hall on May 25-31 1926. Jehovah must have brought his sanctuary into the right condition by July 1931 because if he had not done so then we would be in a situation where his name would have been given to something which was not in the right condition and this is impossible.

The second fulfillment of the 2300 evening and mornings is from the start of the time of the end until the end, since Gabriel has told us that:

17 Understand, Oh Son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end (Daniel 8).

And they end with the restoration of the temple of FDS4.

Gordon himself first calculated that Armageddon was in 2008 CE, from a parallel to the Gentile and Alienation Times (this parallel was to become the prophecy of the Exedenic Times on 21 January 1992). He did not get an explicit bible witness to the Exedenic Times, which first came in the form of the curse of Cain of Genesis 4:15, until the day of February 1, 1992 (before 6pm). So counting inclusively the 4600 days end on 2004September 4th (before 6pm) or 2004Elul16. But this is the day of the second passover, the second new covenant celebration. A good day for the temple of FDS4 to be restored (actually having some 1NC saint in it).

The main recollection that he now has of February 1, is that he had a pizza with some of the brothers and a sister that evening (1991Shebat22). The sister asked the writer:

The writer thought to himself: She has asked this question on exactly the right day, because today I know for a fact that it's 2008, because I have just understood the greater meaning of the curse of Cain. The writer then said to the sister: "Yes". She replied: "So when is it?" The writer then said:

It is not necessary for there to have been a convention to mark this date because there was no action taken by the society to correspond with this prophecy, because they are sad hypocrites unworthy of their founder. The writer himself did not turn his attention to the book of Daniel until early March. Daniel itself was therefore allowed to be unsealed by holy spirit by the time that the writer actually had a look at it with a view to understanding its greater meanings.

Now unbeknown to Gordon or to 5 million JWs, the Watchtower joined the UN as an NGO on January 28th 1992 - woops - see [246], 3 days before Gordon worked out the date of Armageddon. So the transgression causing desolation occurred 3 days before the time of the end began, so the 4600 days had the transgression causing desolation until 2001October9 and had the constant feature right until 2004Elul14, when the 1AC capability of the Watchtower was lost and it became a false religion like the catholics. So one or other was the case all the way through the 4600 days. 

The Watchtower actually acknowledge that the UN is the disgusting thing that will cause desolation to God's people. They just failed for 10 years to acknowledge that they were riding on its back.

So the second presence evening fulfilment (which came first) of the 4600 days, which started with the Federal Council of churches associating themselves with the LN (League of Nations), is followed by the morning fulfilment (which came second in the Hebrew day) of the 4600 days, which started with Gordon working out the date of Armageddon and with the Watchtower associating themselves with the UN. And the first was the transgression that caused desolation to the great Harlot of Babylon, the Babylon without, and the second was the transgression that caused desolation to the harlot of the Evil slave, the Babylon within. Because at the end of the day, both harlots are left devastated and naked, both harlots are desolated, incredibly by the same beast and for the same transgression.

It's like Daniel said to Belshazzar, referring to Nebuchadnezzar his father:

22 And as for you, his son, Belshazzar, you have not humbled your heart although you knew all this. 
23 But against the Lord of the heavens you exalted yourself (Daniel 5).

There is a 4600 solar day period for FDS4 from the 'time of the end' to the right condition of the temple.
There is a 4600 solar day period for FDS3, from their transgression that causes desolation to the placing of the abomination that causes desolation, the takeover of the Watchtower priesthood by non 1NC saints, which is the end of the constant feature and the end of the Watchtower as a true religion. 

19 In answer Jesus said to them: Break down this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Therefore the Jews said: This temple was built in forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?
21 But he was talking about the temple of his body (John 2).

Charles Russell was water baptised in 1884Tishri and he was the first stone in the temple of the Watchtower, the cornerstone laid upon the foundation of Jesus Christ himself. The temple of FDS3 came into the right condition in 1931Ab7, which is 46 years and 10 months later.

The big picture

All transgressions that cause desolation are the same. They are the idolatry of a 'new' 'unifying' world order by an old true religion. The Jews fell for the new unifying world order of Antiochus Epiphanes, they then killed Jesus in a further transgression. The first century Christians fell for the new religious unifying world order of the Roman Catholic church (even Peter himself fell at first). Christendom fell for the new unifying world order of the League of Nations. The Watchtower fell for the new unifying world order of the United Nations. And now in 2008 all the world will be required to accept the mark of the UN, which is the approval of the UN. All corporate entities will be required to become UN NGOs and be 'married' to the UN and therefore take its name. All individual humans will be required to register with the UN, they will then get a UN ID number, the number of its name. And nearly all of these people and corporations will think and believe the lie that this is a brand new and brilliant idea to combat terrorism. This is because these people have given up thinking for themselves, they have given up researching man's history for themselves. They have become like the lemming that follows others over the cliff and like the bull that follows the lead bull into the Abattoir. They are the pilot whales who follow the lead whale onto the beach. This is not a knew idea, it is an old trick of Satan. It is a trick that he has used no less that 4 times already! It is always a mechanism for him to destroy the true religion. But this time it won't work on the true people of God. May God give us the strength and vision to stay faithful.

The 3.5 years of drought of the earlier bank ended with the first water baptism of John in 29Nisan and so started in 25Tishri. He said:

So those baptised by John, who actually listened to him, would become stones, when they were sanctified.

The finishing of the dashing of the power of the holy people to pieces is the placing of the disgusting thing that causes desolation. Because once the altar is defiled one cannot sacrifice on it any more and so the holy people have no priesthood which is their power. So the end of the 1260 days is the start of the 1290 days.

Mark of beast is approval (c.f. Jerusalem mark in Ezekiel)

Individual persons approval is the number of the beast, a UN registration number for all individuals (like in Jesus day).
