[95] The Chronology from Abraham to the Exodus:

Counting back from Solomon to Abraham’s entrance into Canaan

This section is repeated in Section [16].

And the days that Solomon had reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel were 40 years (1 Kings 11:42).

So since his 40th year was 997, his first was 1036.

And it came about in the 480th year after the sons of Israel came out from the land of Egypt, in the 4th year, in the month of Ziv, that is, the second month, after Solomon became king over Israel, that he proceeded to build the house to Jehovah (1 Kings 6:1).

The 4th year of Solomon was 1033 - see [91]. If this was the 480th after the Exodus, then the zeroth after the exodus was 1513. So the Exodus from Egypt was in 1513 during the festival of cakes from Nisan15 to Nisan21. The Jews actually crossed the Red Sea on 1513Nisan21, which is when they stopped having to eat half cooked cakes in a hurry.

And the dwelling of the sons of Israel, who had dwelt in Egypt, was 430 years.

And it came about at the end of the 430 years, it even came about on this very day that all the armies of Jehovah went out of the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:40,41).

Further, I say this: As to the covenant previously validated by God, the Law that has come into being 430 years later does not invalidate it, so as to abolish the promise (Galatians 3:17).

So all the armies of Jehovah entered Egypt 430 years before they left. But we know from Paul that Abraham crossed over the Euphrates from Haran entering Canaan, which was under Egyptian control, thereby inaugurating his covenant with God, 430 years before the first part of the Law of Moses, the passover festival, was held. This festival was held on Nisan14 in 1513:

And Jehovah proceeded to say to Abram: Go your way out of your country and from your relatives and from the house of your father to the country that I shall show you; and I shall make a great nation out of you and I shall bless you and I will make your name great; and prove yourself a blessing. And I will bless those who bless you, and him that calls down evil upon you I shall curse, and all the families of the ground will certainly bless themselves by means of you.

At that Abram went just as Jehovah had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was 75 years old when he went out from Haran.

So Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot the son of his brother and all the goods that they had accumulated and the souls whom they had acquired in Haran, and they got on their way out to go to the land of Canaan. Finally they came to the land of Canaan (Genesis 12:1-5).

Now Canaan, the promised land is defined by:

To your seed I will give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates (Genesis 15:17,18).

So when Abraham crossed the Euphrates, then he had finished obeying the commandment of God, and the covenant was inaugurated. This occurred 430 years before 1513Nisan14, the passover day, the day before the sons of Israel started the Exodus from Egypt. So Abraham crossed into the Promised land, which was under Egyptian control in 1943Nisan.

Josephus, the Jewish historian from Jesus’ time states:

They left Egypt in the month of Xanthicus (Nisan) on the 15th day of the month, 430 years after our forefather Abraham came into Canaan, but 215 years only after Jacob removed into Egypt. It was the 80th year of the age of Moses (Book 2 Chapter 15 Antiquities of the Jews).

Stephen the Martyr stated before he was stoned to death:

He said: Men, brothers and fathers, hear. The God of glory appeared to our forefather Abraham while he was in Mesopotamia, before he took up residence in Haran, and he said to him:

'Go out from your land and from your relatives and come on into the land I shall show you.'

Then he went out from the land of the Chaldeans and took up residence in Haran. And from there, after his father died, [God] caused him to change his residence to this land in which you now dwell (Acts 7:2-4).

Joshua informs us:

And Joshua went on to say to all the people: This is what Jehovah the God of Israel has said, It was on the other side of the River that your forefathers dwelt a long time ago, Terah the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor, and they used to serve other gods.
In time I took your forefather Abraham from the other side of the River and had him walk through all the land of Canaan and made his seed many. So I gave him Isaac
(Joshua 24:2,3).

So putting this all together: Abraham crossed the Euphrates, coming from Haran (North of that River, in Mesopotamia) and going into Canaan, which was an Egyptian dependency, in 1943Nisan. This action actually inaugurated but did not validate the 1AC - see [9]. We know that he crossed the river after his father died and we know that we was told to cross the river by God before his father died. So it is apparent that he crossed it fairly soon after his father died in Haran, since the family were on the way to Canaan (modulo a mourning period).

31 After that Terah took Abram his son and Lot, the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, the wife of Abram his son, and they went with him out of Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan. In time they came to Haran and took up dwelling there.
32 And the days of Terah came to be 205 years. Then Terah died in Haran (Genesis 11:31,32).

So Abram was 75 years old when his dad was 205 years old and in this year in Nisan he crossed over the Euphrates. It is not possible that he crossed the Euphrates in the year after his father died (when he would have been 76) because he crossed it in the month of Nisan, the 7th month of the pre-exodus year and Haran was only a few days journey from the Euphrates and he had been instructed by God to cross the river before he reached Haran with his father.

The Chronology of the Patriarchs

We know that the Abrahamic blessing covenant came into force in 1943Nisan. We know that Abraham was 75 years old at the time:

At that Abram went just as Jehovah had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was 75 years old when he went out from Haran (Genesis 12:4)
So Abraham was born in 2018.

And Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac his son was born to him (Genesis 21:5).
So Isaac was born in 1918.

And after that his brother came out and his hand was holding onto the heel of Esau; so he called his name Jacob. And Isaac was 60 years old at her giving them birth (Genesis 25:26).
So Jacob was born in 1858.

Pharaoh now said to Jacob: How many are the days of the years of your life?
So Jacob said to Pharaoh: The days of the years of my alien residences are 130 years. Few and distressing the days of the years of my life have proved, and they have not reached the days of the years of the lives of my fathers in the days of their alien residences
(Genesis 47:8,9).
This statement was made in 1728. This was in the second year of the 7 years of famine:

For this is the second year of the famine in the midst of the earth, and there are yet 5 years in which there will be no plowing time or harvest (Genesis 45:6).

Go up quickly to my father, and you must say to him: This is what your son Joseph has said: God has appointed me lord for all Egypt. Come down to me. Do not delay (Genesis 45:9).
which were preceded by the 7 years of plenty which were preceded by the year in which Joseph became second in command in Egypt, which occurred when he was 30:

And Joseph was 30 years old when he stood before Pharaoh the king of Egypt (Genesis 41:46).
So he was 30 in 1737. So he was born in 1767. This was at the end of 7 years working for Rachel, so Jacob married Leah and Rachel in 1774. Jacob worked for Leah for 7 years so he arrived at uncle Laban’s in 1781.
